Martinez Lacuesta
Poster and handwriting design for an event of one of the greatest Spanish wineries.
Bodegas Martínez Lacuesta was founded in 1895 in Haro, with financing from within the town, by Félix Martínez Lacuesta (b 1873, Haro d 1922). He was a winemaker, a lawyer, a politician, a marketing man, and the first president of the National Association of Wine-growers and Wine-producers, as well as of the Rioja Wine Union. In addition, he represented bodega owners in the setting-up of the Regulatory Body of the Rioja D.O. The modern winery of Paraje de Ubieta is the result of its long track record, which was started by Don Félix Martínez Lacuesta (Haro 1873 - 1922) at the end of the 19th century, in 1895. The winery is still run by the family after three consecutive generations and is one of the Centenarian Wineries of La Rioja. The land of Haro, the winemaking wisdom of its people, the vineyards, and winery are a strong foundation on which the modern winemaking company is based, producing wines with the traditional flavour of Rioja, while at the same time innovating with new offerings intended for future markets.

The Project
This event celebrated the family's 26th winery anniversary, taking place on their vineyards. On this night, a special edition of one of their Magnum Bottles was presented. The poster had to reflect the vast heritage of the brand, whilst presenting its new wine bottle. The handwriting style allowed me to represent all these elements in one single visual.
